FROM AUTHOR SUSAN WOLF

I have never forgotten my first trip to the Seattle waterfront and onto a ferry with my grandmother. The wonder of standing on the deck of a boat for the first time, viewing islands, sun-dappled water and all different kinds of boats was awe-inspiring for a small child. P.S. Boats, Around Puget Sound is a celebration of the sights and sounds of that first trip. I wanted to create a book that would reflect the beauty of the Pacific Northwest with a natural curiosity of just one of its many elements.

Book Content

Excerpt - English

“Ferry boat, ferry boat,
Glide into dock.
I’m late for my ferry,
Just look at the clock!

Ferry man, ferry girl,
Where do we go?”
“This way, this lane,
And park just so.”

Excerpt - Spanish

-El transbordador
se acerca; entra al dique.
-¡Llego tarde, espolique!
¡Mira el reloj!

-¡Barquerito!, ¡barquerita!,
¿por dónde debemos ir?
-¡Sigan esta vía, ese carril.
¡Estacionen justo allí!

The book is lovely. I love the rhyming and the translations and all the different vessels.  And the water color illustrations are beautiful. The kids (and parents) will enjoy it.

A treasure of a picture book. The charming rhymes and stunning illustrations will delight children of Puget Sound and beyond.

Happy Mother

I bought a copy of your book at a little candy store near the ferry in Kingston and my 4 year old loves it! Found you online and ordered copies for my nephews as well. We spend a lot of time on Whidbey and watching different ships and boats go by is something everyone enjoys! Thank you for writing such a charming book full of PNW beauty.
